Alissa Mortimer is a director, actor, acting teacher, and VoiceOver artist. Areas of special interest and experience include: Shakespeare and heightened text, theatre for social change, inclusive & non-traditional casting, and health & wellness for the actor.


Alissa has appeared in and directed productions for a range of theatrical venues from California to South Africa. She has taught acting at Butler University, Indiana Repertory Theatre, the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, and has presented workshops in theatres and educational settings across the United States and England.


Alissa is an Associate Professor of Acting in the Helmerich School of Drama at The University of Oklahoma. She also teaches classes for The Actor Factory, and accepts private acting clients as time allows. Her voice has been heard on hundreds of spots for tv, radio, and internet.

Alissa is on the Fulbright Specialist roster (2018-2022), which will allow her to partner with institutions internationally on creative projects of 2-6 weeks in duration. 

At home, Alissa is mom to two rowdy boys and partner to her beloved husband, Harold, who is a performer, director, and a Weitzenhoffer Endowed Professor in the Weitzenhoffer School of Musical Theatre at the University of Oklahoma.
